Jadavpur University BLiSc and MLISc Admissions 2018

Jadavpur University offers Library Science courses of B.L.I.Sc., M.L.I.Sc. and M.L.I.Sc. Digital Library. The bachelor’s course and M.L.I.Sc. will be for a duration of 1 year and the M.L.I.Sc. DL course will be for a duration of 2 year. The Application forms will be made available by the University to be filled online on its website.

The last date for the submission of all the Application Forms with another day allowed for submission of Application fees.

The courses are offered by the Department of Library and Information Sciences, Faculty of Arts of Jadavpur University. The seat availability is 60, 16 and 15 respectively for the courses.

The admission to B.L.I.Sc. Course is based on academic merit as well as work experience and certificate courses, if applicable. Whereas, the admission to both M.L.I.Sc. and M.L.I.Sc. DL is based equally on marks scored on qualifying exam and the Admission Test.

The eligibility criteria involves a minimum of Bachelor’s degree with additional criteria depending on the candidate’s qualifications.

Eligibility:

For Deputed Candidates:
You should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 3 years of experience (as on the date for submission of application) after passing BLIS as a whole-time salaried staff member in a recognized library or information centre.

For Other Candidates:
You should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with BLIS degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 55% marks in BLIS (41% for SC/ST and 50% for PD).

Admission Process:

For B.L.I.Sc.:
You will be selected on the basis of academic merit, including certificate course and work experience, if applicable. Following score will be given depending on the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination:

Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib] & Master of Library and Information Science [M.Lib] (Digital Library)
Selection of candidates in the respective categories will be made in order of merit ascertained on the basis of 50% weightage on the marks secured in the BLIS examination and 50% weightage on the marks secured in the Written Admission Test.
